CHRONIC PAIN CAN DRIVE YOU TO DISTRACTION
May 18, 2007 -- Newswire -- Anyone who has experienced chronic pain knows that it affects the ability to work, sleep and perform other activities essential to leading a full life. Now researchers at the University of Alberta have confirmed that chronic pain doesn’t just cause physical discomfort; it can impair your memory and your concentration.
In a study recently conducted at the university’s Multidisciplinary Pain Centre in Edmonton, Canada, two-thirds of participants with chronic pain showed significant disruption of attention and memory when tested. Read more >>
CARE AT HOME IS A NEEDED OPTION
May 17, 2007 -- Cincinnati Enquirer -- Some patients need full-time, long-term institutional care, but many others can preserve their independence and ties to their community with the help of home health services, personal aides, home modifications and other support services.
Not only do these options allow them to save intensive care for when they really need it, but they have the potential to save billions in tax dollars. In the past, 75 percent of Medicaid funds went to institutional care. Read more >>
