TIP OF THE WEEK
Helpful Contacts for MDS Data
Have you ever submitted your MDS data only to find on Nursing Home Compare that the numbers posted are incorrect? Have you tried unsuccessfully to get the numbers changed? Assistance is only a simple phone call away.
On the Nursing Home Compare Web site (www.medicare.gov/nhcompare) is a tab labeled Data Details. Clicking on the tab brings you to a screen describing OSCAR data and the MDS repository. At the bottom of the screen is a link titled Helpful Contacts. Clicking on this link brings up a screen that helps you to filter to the correct department or organization that may assist you.
From Data Details, you may also click on the link marked Note to Nursing Homes. This note explains what to do in case there are errors appearing on the screens regarding your Nursing Home.
For Ohio, the Nursing Home State Survey Agency phone number for MDS corrections is 1.614.644.7238. All other corrections may be handled through the Helpful Contacts link found at www.medicare.gov/Contacts/Home.asp.
