Surgical Care/Heart Failure
Ohio KePRO facilitates a collaborative project with a small group of Ohio hospitals to reduce the rate of surgical and heart care complications.
The Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP) provides an opportunity for hospitals to receive one-on-one consultation from Ohio KePRO and to participate in a multistate collaborative with providers from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and Wisconsin. The collaborative project gives participants the chance to learn from experts in the field and from each other.
SCIP is supported by a national quality partnership of organizations interested in improving surgical care by significantly reducing surgical complications. It is a unique partnership that promises to be a transformational undertaking in health care. Partners in SCIP believe that a meaningful reduction in surgical complications depends on surgeons, anesthesiologists, perioperative nurses, pharmacists, infection control professionals, and hospital executives working together to intensify their commitment to making surgical care improvement a priority.
We also work with these hospitals to improve in heart care measures, focusing on process changes designed to improve outcomes for patients admitted to the hospital with acute myocardial infarction and heart failure. Core measures for heart care include the speed of initial response, symptom recognition and quality treatment for successful treatments.
