Statewide Hospital Quality
Improvement Initiatives
Ohio KePRO, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for Ohio, will work with every Ohio hospital to decrease surgical complications and to increase measurement and reporting of care for acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical infections. Acute Care Hospitals are eligible for reimbursement by Medicare at the full market basket rate if they submit data on 10 of the 22 quality measures. Every rural/critical access hospital will receive assistance from Ohio KePRO to improve, measure and report on clinical performance measures, some of which will be new in 2006 for the rural setting.
